Job description

About the Role

You will support various stages of product development including standard design tasks, project management, product design transfer, revisions, legacy product upkeep, sustainability engineering, and assistance with new product initiatives.

This position is with Koch Business Solutions India Private Limited, part of the PSBU group focused on designing and manufacturing high-power connectors, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead new product introduction (NPI) and modification design (MOD) efforts for electromechanical connector products.
  • Adhere to the product development process (PDP) while working closely with supervisors, project managers, engineering teams, production units, tooling groups, and testing facilities.
  • Collaborate with product management to accurately capture and fulfill the voice of the customer (VOC).
  • Use various engineering tools including CAD software (preferably NX CAD), SAP, PowerPoint, and Excel for design, change management, presentations, and analysis.
  • Communicate with global manufacturing units, review inspection data, and provide disposition recommendations.
  • Manage design projects from initial concept through production, monitoring milestones, assessing risks, and implementing mitigation strategies while independently planning tasks.
  • Interpret and apply design validation plans and reports (DVP&R).
  • Apply knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up techniques.
  • Select appropriate materials and review finite element analysis (FEA) to validate designs.
  • Demonstrate foundational understanding of design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a Bachelor of Engineering or Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Possesses 2 to 6 years of experience in product design, preferably including plastic and sheet metal design.
  • Proficient in CAD software, with a preference for NX CAD.
  • Familiar with SAP, ERP, and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
  • Experience designing electromechanical products like connectors or switches is advantageous.
  • Knowledgeable in DFMEA, DVP&R, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Confident in participating in conference calls and discussions.
  • Comprehends the end-to-end product development process.
