- Conduct thorough research and fact-checking of topics and interviewees to ensure accuracy, fairness, and compliance with editorial standards.
- Work confidently in both live and pre-recorded video settings, including on-camera reporting and producing visually engaging segments with editorial collaboration.

- Identify follow-up story opportunities and assist in developing multiple content formats including written articles and social media visuals.
- Operate efficiently under pressure, managing competing priorities independently and collaboratively with a broad team.
- Adhere to NZME editorial policies, ethical guidelines, media laws, and workplace health and safety standards.
Candidate Profile

- Possess relevant qualifications and/or substantial experience in journalism with confidence operating within digital and broadcast video environments.
- Demonstrate strong news judgment, an established contact network, and proactive initiative in sourcing stories across diverse topics including politics, business, sports, entertainment, and lifestyle.
- Communicate clearly and succinctly in briefing team members, presenters, and interview subjects.
- Distill complex information into accessible briefing notes and interview questions that engage target audiences effectively.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail, exceptional language skills, and commitment to accuracy and ethical standards.
- Remain composed in fast-paced, shifting news environments, adaptable to flexible scheduling, and receptive to feedback within a collaborative culture.
