Reporter - Middle East Business and Finance

Job Overview

Dow Jones Newswires is seeking two reporters based in Doha to cover business, finance, economics, and markets throughout the Middle East. The successful candidates will join a regional team supporting EMEA news operations, responsible for breaking news on capital flows and private equity executive movements, conducting exclusive interviews, and delivering scoops on private markets and energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exclusive news scoops that engage professional readers and leverage existing or new sources to stay ahead of market developments.
• Rapidly analyze news signals for investors, producing content ranging from brief headlines to detailed thematic articles.
• Extract forward-looking insights from regional news streams to create concise, impactful English content for daily global reports.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues across Newswires and The Wall Street Journal, adhering to Dow Jones’s high standards and ethical guidelines.

Candidate Expectations

• Break impactful news and highlight information critical to financial professionals.
• Summarize complex content into clear briefs and provide subsequent analytical context relevant to investors.
• Understand and address the specific information needs of core Newswires audiences.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully in a fast-paced, high-volume team environment.

Qualifications and Skills

• At least two to three years of relevant journalism experience.
• Strong sense of urgency with an ability to maintain composure under pressure.
• Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to deepen understanding of Middle Eastern markets.
• Capability to prioritize multiple assignments while fostering teamwork.
• Excellent English writing skills are essential; proficiency in Arabic is preferred but not mandatory.
