Job description

About the Company

The employer is a Philadelphia-based lower middle market private equity firm managing over $2 billion in assets. Their investment focus centers on control and growth investments in founder-led businesses within sectors such as business and professional services, healthcare services, education, and technology services. The firm collaborates closely with management teams to enhance value through operational advancements, strategic growth efforts, and add-on acquisitions, fostering sector specialization for Associates.

Role Overview

The firm is looking for an Associate to be a vital part of the investment team, actively participating in transaction execution and supporting portfolio company projects. Working alongside senior team members at all investment stages, the Associate's duties are primarily centered on execution, roughly 80% deal-focused and 20% portfolio-related. The position offers early substantial responsibility within small deal teams.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain intricate financial models, such as leveraged buyout analyses.
  • Assist in transaction execution, including due diligence, deal structuring, and closing processes.
  • Conduct in-depth research at the industry, market, and company levels within target sectors.
  • Prepare materials and presentations for investment committee review.
  • Oversee and contribute to the monitoring and value enhancement of portfolio companies.
  • Work with senior members on strategic growth initiatives and additional acquisitions.

Qualifications and Candidate Profile

  • Possess 2 to 3 years of experience in investment banking or similar transaction-focused roles.
  • Strong expertise in financial modeling, particularly with leveraged buyouts.
  • Prior experience in mergers and acquisitions, either on the buy-side or sell-side, is preferred.
  • Background in top boutique or middle market platforms is advantageous.
  • Track record of academic excellence, generally with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Consistent and progressive career growth with minimal job changes.
  • Proven leadership skills and involvement in extracurricular activities such as sports or organizations.
