Role Overview

The Operational Support Grade (OSG) at His Majesty’s Prison (HMP) Isle of Wight is pivotal in assisting with the everyday operations of a busy prison facility. This role involves a variety of duties including security checks, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and overseeing communications through phone and CCTV monitoring. The job combines administrative desk work with physically active tasks like lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles around prison grounds. Driving is integral to the position, so a valid UK driving license is mandatory.

Who We Are Looking For

No formal qualifications are required, but strong communication skills, the ability to remain composed in a fast-paced environment, sound judgement, and teamwork are essential. You will work diverse shifts, including weekends and nights, to ensure smooth prison operations. Direct prisoner contact is limited but may occur occasionally depending on the setting.
