Role Overview
Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service at HMP Erlestoke as an Operational Support Grade (OSG), where you'll be vital in assisting the daily operations of a busy prison environment. This varied position blends administrative tasks with physical duties such as performing security checks at entry points, handling deliveries, supervising visitors, and overseeing phone and CCTV monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct security and searches at prison entry points
- Manage incoming deliveries efficiently
- Supervise visitor access and activity
- Monitor telephone use and CCTV footage
- Physically escort vehicles across prison grounds, involving walking and lifting tasks
Candidate Profile
You do not need formal qualifications to succeed in this role; however, strong communication skills, calmness under pressure, sound judgment, and teamwork abilities are essential. The position requires flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends, to help maintain smooth prison operations. Interaction with prisoners is limited but may occur occasionally depending on specific circumstances.

Benefits and Remuneration
The annual salary is £30,491. In addition, you will receive 25 days of annual leave upon joining, increasing to 30 days after ten years of service, pro-rated accordingly. You are entitled to nine days of bank, public, and privilege holidays.
