Role overview
His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service is recruiting prison officers for HMP Highpoint. This is a fast-moving role where you will help protect the public while supporting people in custody to make constructive changes in their lives. The work is varied, challenging and different every day, with opportunities to build a long-term career as you gain experience.
Who this role suits
This position is suitable for people from a wide range of backgrounds. Experience from areas such as parenting, education, retail or the armed forces can translate well, especially where it has helped you develop empathy, confidence and strong communication skills.
What the role involves
You will work directly with prisoners in a unique environment, balancing the need to keep everyone safe with the responsibility of building respectful, professional relationships. Depending on the situation, you may need to act as a keeper of order, a supporter or a guide, all within the same day.
Working pattern
This job requires you to work a range of shifts, including weekends.
Training and development

Pay and benefits
The salary for this position is £35,746 to £40,003. Additional benefits include 25 days of annual leave, childcare vouchers, season ticket loans, retail discounts, an Employee Assistance Programme and a Cycle to Work scheme.
