  • Manage incoming and outgoing deliveries and logistics.
  • Supervise visitors entering and exiting the prison.
  • Monitor phone calls and CCTV to maintain safety and security.
  • Carry out physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and facilitating vehicle escorts across the site.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • No formal qualifications are necessary, but strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations are essential.
  • Good judgment, common sense, and teamwork capabilities are fundamental.
  • A full, valid UK driving licence is mandatory as driving duties are integral to this role.

Work Schedule and Conditions

The position involves a variety of shifts including weekends and night shifts to ensure continuous prison operations.

This role provides extensive insight into prison operations and offers pathways for progression, including a conversion program from OSG to Prison Officer.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: £29,432 per annum.
  • Annual leave: 25 days initially, increasing to 30 days after 10 years of service (pro-rated).
  • 9 additional bank, public, and privilege holidays.
  • Access to a paid Level 2 apprenticeship in customer service.
  • Participation in the Civil Service pension scheme.
  • Additional benefits including season ticket loans, retail discounts, Employee Assistance Programme, and Cycle to Work scheme.
