Job description
About the Opportunity
EQL Tech is collaborating with a stealth-mode, early-stage physical AI health startup based in Palo Alto, with a small team of around four members. This startup specializes in converting real-world sensor data like wearables, ECG, and video into clinical-grade health insights. The founders have prior experience shipping FDA-cleared AI products, have active paying enterprise clients across two verticals, and are negotiating a significant commercial partnership. A seed funding round is anticipated to close in Q3 or Q4 of 2026.
The company’s technology is advanced beyond its current narrative. Its website currently underrepresents the innovation, the founders lack online visibility, and no press materials are ready for important upcoming announcements. Addressing this gap is the primary responsibility of the PR & Marketing Lead.
Role Description
The PR & Marketing Lead will serve as the sole marketing and communications specialist throughout the 1-3 month contract engagement. This role offers direct interaction with all founders, complete creative freedom, and no bureaucratic obstacles.
- Revamp the company website messaging to clearly convey what the business does and its significance.
- Enhance the founders’ LinkedIn profiles to develop credible and consistent channels.
- Set up and maintain a social media cadence and voice for the company.
- Develop press and partner-facing materials to be fully prepared for upcoming seed funding announcements and partnership news.
- Create a playbook that the team can utilize after the engagement concludes.
Candidate Requirements
Seniority is not measured by years but by proven success in elevating a technical firm's public profile.
- Capable of independently managing marketing as a fractional CMO, ex-agency strategist, or startup marketing lead accustomed to working without detailed briefs.
- Documented experience transforming a technical firm from obscurity to credibility, with verifiable before-and-after examples.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex clinical AI concepts into language that resonates with buyers, journalists, and investors without oversimplifying.
- Strong familiarity with AI or health-tech sectors, alongside a genuine passion for these fields.
- Self-motivated and able to deliver results proactively given direct access to company founders and creative freedom.
Additional advantages include previous fractional CMO or agency leadership roles, experience in regulated or clinical sectors, and established connections with health-tech or AI media. Preference is given to candidates located in the Bay Area.
Benefits
- Direct collaboration with all founders, avoiding hierarchical delays.
- Wide creative autonomy over company narrative and communication channels.
- Join during a pivotal time just before seed announcement and partnership disclosures, with visible impact from the role’s work.
- Potential to extend involvement as the company grows after the funding round.
