About the Role

Join the Royal Mail team as a Postal Delivery Driver based in the Tiverton Delivery Office, EX16 6BH. This permanent position offers an hourly wage of £13.68 paid monthly, with the possibility of paid overtime. You will work 37 hours weekly, spread over 5 days out of 7, including weekends. Typical shifts run Monday to Saturday from 07:00 to 15:00 and Sunday from 11:00 to 18:24.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort mail including letters and parcels at the delivery office efficiently.
  • Deliver post within your community using a Royal Mail van and on foot.
  • Maintain friendly interactions and build relationships with customers.
  • Work outdoors regardless of weather conditions.

Your role will encompass delivering important correspondence such as exam results, birthday cards, business orders, and other items of significance. This position offers routine and structure mixed with variety and opportunity for community engagement.

Working Conditions and Expectations

  • This is a physically intensive and fast-paced role involving walking up to 12 miles daily (20,000+ steps).
  • Daily operation of a Royal Mail van is required.
  • The job demands working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Handling and delivering large volumes of mail and parcels, with increased pressure during peak times.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possession of a full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points, registered in your current name and address.
  • Ability and willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass the driving assessment.
  • Physical fitness to walk long distances, climb stairs and hills, and carry mailbags weighing 10kg or more.
  • Reliability, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills to manage a busy workload.
  • Customer-oriented attitude with pride in delivering exceptional service.
  • Comfortable working independently outdoors.
