Job description
About the Role
A rapidly expanding Private Equity firm is looking for a finance professional with strong analytical skills and a commercial perspective to join their Strategic Finance team. This critical position supports investment performance reviews, portfolio reporting, valuation exercises, and strategic decision-making for a wide-ranging investment portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with investment teams to develop, revise, and manage financial forecasts for multiple funds including updates from portfolio company operations, valuations, and long-term financial plans.
- Design and refine financial and valuation models to assess portfolio company results, investment returns, and compliance with initial investment assumptions.
- Conduct scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and downside risk evaluations to gauge financial risks arising from market shifts, operational changes, and strategic initiatives.
- Track key operating metrics and financial results of portfolio companies, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to provide insightful updates to senior leadership.
- Prepare regular and ad hoc analytical reports to facilitate executive decision-making such as performance reviews, benchmarking, variance analysis, and strategic planning.
- Support corporate development activities including acquisition assessments, business case analysis, and other strategic growth projects.
- Work closely with finance teams of portfolio companies and internal departments—investment, operations, legal, and finance—to ensure consistent and accurate financial reporting and valuation assumptions.
- Maintain high standards of portfolio data quality, enhance reporting accuracy, and help improve data governance across investment vehicles.
- Assist in strategic planning by analyzing portfolio performance, profitability trends, and operational drivers impacting investment outcomes.
- Communicate complex financial analyses into straightforward, actionable insights to support monitoring, capital allocation, and executive-level decisions.
Experience & Qualifications
Candidates should have between 3 to 4 years of experience in company valuations within private equity or management consulting. While an investment banking background is advantageous, it is not mandatory.
Work Location & Schedule
This role operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring presence in Manhattan four days each week with occasional meetings at the Northern New Jersey office.
