Overview

Join the Global Communications & Public Affairs team as a pivotal communicator for YouTube, one of the world’s leading platforms. The role requires collaborating across functions to engage journalists, influencers, and opinion leaders through various communication formats including print, web, video scripts, and public events. You will handle complex regulatory and reputational narratives, crafting proactive campaigns and quick response strategies while building solid trust-based media relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Drive media coverage shaping regulatory and policy issues affecting YouTube via strategic campaigns and rapid response initiatives.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with influential press based in key data centers and third-party stakeholders to enhance YouTube’s reputation and support public policy goals.
  • Work closely with public policy, legal, and marketing teams to oversee media coverage, coordinate events, manage public testimonies, and conduct reporter briefings.
  • Partner with the broader Global Communications and Public Affairs team on overlapping matters relevant to both YouTube and Google.
  • Lead and synchronize global communication responses to regulatory matters that involve multiple geographic regions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • At least 10 years in public relations, media relations, public affairs, or corporate communications.
  • Demonstrated experience managing communications around company operations, reputational concerns, or corporate issues.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Proven ability to engineer policy-centric media campaigns and influence news narratives effectively.
  • Experience designing and executing integrated, scalable media strategies.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a talent for simplifying complicated concepts into clear, accessible messages.
  • Established media contacts including modern digital platforms, with fluency in contemporary media and social landscapes.

Additional Information

The ability to pitch stories to journalists and produce engaging internal communications is highly valued. Compensation varies based on skills, experience, education, and includes a base salary of $171,000 to $248,000 USD, plus a 20% target bonus, equity options, and benefits.
