About the Role and Company
Join Greencross Vet Hospital, Australia's leading specialty pet retailer, as an Assistant Category Manager based in North Ryde, New South Wales. This position is part of the Dog and Cat Food Ambient team and offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Category Manager or a senior Merchandise Assistant aiming to advance in category management within a fast-paced retail environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Category Manager in comprehensive category management tasks including sales, inventory oversight, margin control, promotions, and ensuring alignment with budget and strategic brand plans.
- Assist in planning, reporting, and analyzing promotional activities.
- Perform category analysis to meet strategic goals and objectives.
- Contribute actively to product ranging and promotional initiatives.
- Oversee and manage the workload of Merchandise Assistants within the team.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams such as Stores, Supply Chain, Marketing, Private Label, and Space Planning.
- Coordinate new product submissions from vendors while fostering strong supplier relationships.
- Provide valuable insights and recommendations for process improvements.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in a similar support office buying role within specialty retail, FMCG, or fast-paced retail environments.
- Driven and passionate about building and advancing a career in buying and specialty retail.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and superior analytical abilities, including advanced proficiency in Excel for data manipulation and visualization.
- Proven capability to multitask effectively and manage various stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication skills to serve as a key liaison among suppliers, store teams, and other internal departments.
- A proactive, collaborative team player attitude, tackling issues regardless of scale.
- A tertiary qualification in Business Administration or a related field.
