About the Role
The Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) Essendon is a multidisciplinary veterinary facility operating 24/7, staffed by expert emergency and specialty veterinarians and nurses. We are committed to delivering responsive and comprehensive emergency and referral services to veterinarians, pet owners, and their pets across Victoria, maintaining high professional standards alongside genuine compassion.
As a Hospital Clinic Assistant, your role is pivotal in ensuring the comfort and care of hospitalised animals by providing essentials such as food, water, exercise, and clean bedding. Additionally, you will support the veterinary team by maintaining a spotless, well-stocked hospital environment. This role mainly involves cleaning duties with limited animal interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Cleaning and resetting animal cages
- Assisting with walking, feeding, and watering patients under nurse guidance
- Maintaining cleanliness throughout hospital areas, including floors, bins, and surfaces
- Managing daily laundry and dishwashing duties
- Restocking consumables across the hospital
Candidate Profile
- Availability for day and evening shifts, including weekends, aligned with our 24/7 operation
- Not currently engaged in studies, as this role requires consistent availability
- Certificate II in Animal Studies or higher is advantageous but not mandatory
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic environment is highly desirable
- Strong dedication to high-quality animal patient care
- Effective organizational and time management abilities
- Self-driven, capable of working both independently and collaboratively
- Comprehensive understanding of workplace health and safety relating to clinic assistant duties in a boarding or clinical setting
- Positive, committed work ethic consistent with ARH core values
- Ability to maintain quality patient care under busy conditions
- Attention to detail and capacity to multitask efficiently
- Completed or willing to complete Fear Free Pets certification

- Positive demeanor with a good sense of humor
