Role Overview
The Platform Fraud & Investigations Specialist will lead efforts to detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity on Mable’s digital platform. Reporting within the Customer Safeguarding team, this position manages complex investigations, analyzes fraud trends, and advises on platform controls and processes to minimize risks and protect all stakeholders including customers, support workers, and partner organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor the platform for suspicious behaviors, emerging fraud patterns, and risks.
- Lead thorough investigations into fraud cases including identity fraud, account breaches, payment fraud, scams, and misuse.
- Analyze customer and platform data to identify vulnerabilities and trends.
- Provide actionable recommendations to mitigate harm, reduce risk, and strengthen prevention measures.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Data teams to incorporate fraud insights into platform and process improvements.
- Evaluate fraud risks associated with new features, operational changes, and initiatives.
- Generate fraud trend and investigation reports, and update policies, procedures, and playbooks to reflect evolving risks.
- Educate Customer Operations teams on fraud identification and risk management.
- Stay current with emerging fraud tactics, industry trends, and best practices to continually enhance fraud prevention.
- Build strong partnerships across business units to foster a secure and trustworthy platform environment.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in fraud investigations within digital platforms, trust & safety, financial crime, or related risk fields.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to recognize patterns, assess risks, and make data-driven decisions.
- Expertise in fraud typologies including identity theft, account compromise, payments fraud, scams, and social engineering.
- Excellent communication skills for preparing clear investigative reports and influencing stakeholders.
- Sound judgment balancing fraud prevention measures with customer experience and safeguarding goals.
Desirable Attributes
- Background in regulated sectors such as healthcare, disability, aged care, financial services, or online platforms.
- Familiarity with fraud detection tools, case management software, or data analytics supporting investigations.
- Understanding of Australian privacy laws, fraud risk management, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience developing fraud policies, playbooks, or investigation frameworks.
