Role Overview

As a Plant Operator at Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, you will help keep the hotel’s technical and facility systems running smoothly so guests enjoy a comfortable, safe, and well-maintained stay. The role focuses on maintaining plant rooms, preserving operational efficiency, and supporting a high standard of hospitality through reliable upkeep of critical building systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operation, servicing, and repair of hotel plant rooms, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and pool-related equipment.
  • Carry out regular checks on plant rooms, swimming pool systems, and associated machinery to catch and resolve issues early.
  • Manage chemicals safely by following proper storage, handling, and usage practices in line with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Apply strong knowledge of water treatment and chemical procedures to keep swimming pool conditions safe and within acceptable standards.
  • Perform planned maintenance on plant equipment such as boilers, chillers, pumps, and filtration units to support uninterrupted operation.
  • Track and maintain water quality indicators, including pH, chlorine, and other treatment parameters, to meet health and safety expectations.
  • Respond quickly to maintenance requests affecting plant rooms, pool systems, or other hotel facilities.
  • Document maintenance work, chemical consumption, work orders, and inventory levels for parts and supplies accurately.
  • Review energy consumption across plant operations and suggest improvements that reduce waste and operating cost.
  • Follow all safety procedures, especially those related to chemical use, to protect team members and guests.
  • Arrange the purchase of required parts, chemicals, and consumables for maintenance and repair activities.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and work areas in proper working condition and ready for use.
  • Recommend practical improvements to maintenance processes, chemical management, and energy-efficiency practices.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate should bring hands-on experience with hotel plant operations and the ability to work responsibly in a guest-focused environment. You should be comfortable collaborating with team members while maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, and service.

  • Solid working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, swimming pool equipment, and other hotel plant room machinery.
  • Experience in safely handling, storing, and applying chemicals, especially those used in pool water treatment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and operational issues efficiently.
  • Capability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests, including urgent plant and pool-related matters.
  • Understanding of energy conservation methods, sustainability practices, and water treatment processes in a hotel setting.
  • Prior experience in a similar position.
