Job Overview
The Plant Maintenance Specialist position involves a comprehensive understanding of plant operations to help achieve production and safety goals. The role requires performing detailed inspections of essential equipment, carrying out routine upkeep with little oversight, and providing support on more extensive repair projects. This role is an important stepping stone for developing strong technical skills and operational insight.
Key Duties
- Perform equipment inspections before and after shifts, lubricate moving components, and fulfill scheduled preventive maintenance to avoid equipment breakdowns.
- Diagnose and replace fundamental mechanical parts such as conveyor belts, idlers, pulleys, and water pumps.
- Execute structural repairs and heavy wear part replacements (crusher liners, shaker screens) using welding, cutting, and grinding tools.
- Strict compliance with MSHA and OSHA safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, to maintain a safe work environment.
- Monitor aggregate crushing, washing, and screening processes to detect any irregularities by sight or sound and make minor corrections.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records including service logs and lubrication reports.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Relevant prior experience or demonstrated skills in maintenance-related functions is necessary.
- Familiarity with plant operation processes and the ability to understand performance goals.
- Proficiency in inspection, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and larger repair activities.
- Experienced with hand and power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
- Basic knowledge of small electrical equipment repairs and replacements.
- Must comply with MSHA regulations related to plant maintenance.
- Valid driver's license required.
