Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary escalation contact for your team, promptly resolving issues while fostering team development.
- Manage the routing of daily deliveries across the Munster region, continuously seeking ways to enhance processes and reduce costs.
- Utilize company operating systems to plan daily driver routes ensuring full compliance with customer requirements.
- Report transportation delays caused by system failures, weather, or other challenges to the Branch Supervisor.
- Ensure smooth transitions between day and night shifts to maintain operational continuity.
- Monitor service performance metrics, verify the accuracy of route planning data, and provide reports as required.
- Conduct "what-if" route analyses to identify efficiencies and reduce transportation expenses.
- Collaborate with service partners to optimize fleet dispatch schedules.
- Maintain and analyze data, generate reports as needed to support decision-making.
- Offer support to the Branch Night Shift operations when necessary.
- Perform maintenance, charging, and defect reporting on equipment and facilities.
- Enforce safety protocols, ensuring the team understands procedures in the event of incidents or accidents.
- Adhere to security measures such as proper gate and shutter closure and reporting suspicious activities.
- Manage routing for 150 to 250 deliveries each night.
- Allocate traction requirements for both night and day operations.
- Balance customer delivery expectations with key commercial objectives.
- Maximize vehicle revenue and utilization rates.
- Coordinate daily runs for the Cork Short Distance fleet.
- Effectively communicate with drivers and service partners to ensure operational success.
- Collaborate with teams and partners to deliver high-quality customer service with on-time, full deliveries.
- Assist with yard duties and vehicle shunting under team lead guidance when required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least three years’ practical experience in a similar logistics planning role involving Arctic and Rigid transport vehicles.
- A degree related to transport or significant on-road experience is preferable but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of Ireland’s geography and familiarity with delivery locations nationwide.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in IT tools, particularly Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work flexibly under pressure while meeting customer expectations.
- Self-driven with responsiveness to evolving business demands.
- Forklift operation experience is advantageous; training will be provided as needed.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, typically from 10 PM to 7 AM.
