Physical Security Investigations Manager

About the Role

The Global Physical Security team at ByteDance manages security initiatives worldwide by setting strategic goals, standardizing processes, creating project documentation, and coordinating between departments such as Security Operations, Fire Safety, and Strategy.

We are looking for a Physical Security Investigations Manager to join our Singapore team. This individual will thrive in challenging, complex environments and demonstrate sound judgment even when all facts are not fully clear.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead investigations related to physical security incidents involving personnel, assets, vendors, including gathering evidence, conducting interviews, documenting cases, and reporting findings.
• Evaluate incidents and security issues, identify risks, suggest corrective actions, and escalate critical concerns appropriately.
• Participate in incident response efforts, handling urgent or sensitive matters requiring swift coordination, sound judgement, and confidentiality.
• Organize and carry out physical security red team tests, security drills, and control assessments in various global locations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Ethics, Legal, HR, Facilities, IT, Risk Control, and business leadership to review and enhance security controls and response capabilities.
• Maintain detailed investigation plans, testing scenarios, case files, after-action reports, corrective action plans, and lessons learned consistent with the ByteDance Physical Security Investigation SOP.
• Analyze trends, identify vulnerabilities, and address gaps to drive continuous improvements in the global physical security program.

Qualifications

Required:

• Experience in physical security, corporate security, investigations, law enforcement, military, intelligence, risk management, or related fields.
• Strong judgement and ability to make balanced decisions in rapidly changing and ambiguous environments.
• Independent working capability with sound risk assessment and appropriate escalation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English for clear reports and executive summaries.
• High attention to detail, able to organize information, identify inconsistencies, and draw supported conclusions.
• Capability to handle sensitive information discretely and with integrity.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 25% and adapt working hours when necessary.

Preferred:

• Background in technology companies, multinational corporations, or global environments.
• Prior roles in law enforcement, military, intelligence, government security, or corporate security.
• Experience conducting physical security red team and penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, or security drills.
• Knowledge of investigative interviewing, open-source intelligence, evidence handling, case management, and incident reporting.
• Practical familiarity with physical security measures such as incident response, access control, surveillance, guarding, and facility protection.
• Experience operating in the Asia-Pacific region or supporting global security programs.
• Certifications such as CPP, PSP, PCI, CFE, ACPIP, ACI or similar are an advantage.
