About the Role
PharmacyStore is a community-focused, Irish-owned pharmacy group with five locations and over 60 employees, dedicated to providing quality care to local families. This full-time position is based at the Ballycasey Pharmacy in Shannon, County Clare. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be an essential part of the team, delivering excellent customer and patient services in accordance with professional standards and your qualifications.
Core Responsibilities
- Adhere to pharmacy practices, procedures, and legal ethics governing dispensing.
- Ensure compliance with PSI regulations and controls.
- Maintain accurate digital records and manage paperwork related to various pharmacy schemes following company protocols.
- Manage stock effectively including rotation, supplier selection, stock level maintenance, and delivery verifications, under the guidance of the managing pharmacist.
- Keep the dispensary organized and sanitary according to Standard Operating Procedures and management direction.
- Operate pharmacy schemes accurately and submit required documentation on time.
- Recognize the limits of a Pharmacy Technician’s role and appropriately refer matters as needed.
- Process prescriptions by receiving, recording, and assembling them, issuing receipts, and consulting pharmacists for complex or changed prescriptions.
- Provide appropriate over-the-counter medication recommendations, escalating to pharmacists when necessary.
- Ensure dispensing accuracy by monitoring processes and correcting errors promptly.
- Deliver professional and efficient customer service, escalating concerns to Duty Managers as appropriate.
- Support front counter sales and customer interactions to enhance service delivery.
- Participate actively in training programs to develop skills and knowledge of pharmacy operations and schemes.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with team members and stakeholders for seamless operation.
- Take initiative by leading assigned projects and supporting team objectives.
- Understand the financial impact of decisions within the pharmacy business environment.
- Provide cross-location support within the PharmacyStore group as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Pharmacy Technician qualification is preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a pharmacy setting is required.
- Strong focus on customer care and service excellence.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
