Pharmacist - Full-Time, Flexible Hourly Shifts

Overview

Join a community-focused, locally owned pharmacy to provide essential health, beauty, and convenience services with the customer as your central priority. This role entails managing pharmacy operations during your shift, including dispensing medications, consulting with customers and healthcare providers, and maintaining pharmacy standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist all customers entering the pharmacy.
• Operate in compliance with federal, provincial, and legal pharmacy regulations.
• Ensure strict adherence to privacy policies, including safeguarding customer confidentiality and managing consent.
• Offer counseling on prescription medications and over-the-counter products.
• Utilize your full professional scope, including expanded pharmacy services, within your competencies.
• Maintain visibility and clear identification to the public as a pharmacy professional.
• Verify the accuracy and suitability of every prescription dispensed.
• Engage in communication with healthcare professionals within the patient's care circle to support optimal customer health outcomes.
• Keep detailed records as required by legislation, practice standards, and company policies.
• Control dispensary access to protect inventory and patient confidentiality.
• Maintain daily workflow management, including reviewing 'will call' bins per procedure.
• Monitor and manage stock levels, identify expired products, and oversee medication orders from suppliers.
• Comply with all documentation and reporting obligations related to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act to Health Canada and regulatory authorities.
• Maintain organized and professional pharmacy workstations, counseling areas, and customer waiting areas.
• Participate in financial reporting activities as needed.
• Read and act upon in-store communications promptly.
• Document and file incident reports related to medication or privacy events involving customers or staff.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

• Demonstrated independent judgment and effective decision-making skills when addressing issues or challenges.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, delegate, and mentor pharmacy team members.
• Track record of business development, leading by example, and supporting company initiatives.
• Strong dedication to delivering outstanding customer service.
• Excellent interpersonal and professional relationship capabilities.
• Effective problem-solving skills, including developing and implementing action plans.
• Competence with personal computing and pharmacy management systems is highly desirable.
• Commitment to health and safety protocols to maintain a secure workplace.
• Completion of mandatory training and optional ongoing education workshops as required.

Compensation

The position offers a competitive hourly wage between $45.90 and $59.40, dependent on experience, knowledge, and geographic location. A sign-on bonus is available.
