Job Summary
Step into a career where the outdoors is your office as a Permanent Relief Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier with Canada Post in Kamloops, British Columbia. This role calls for dependable and organized individuals who are dedicated to delivering mail across various communities efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently sort, collect, and deliver mail items ensuring safe and timely completion of all deliveries.
- Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of local roads, customer locations, and delivery receptacles.
- Secure all mail items in your care to prevent loss or damage.
- Handle and process a range of Canada Post services including Change of Address notifications, managing damaged mail, and Items Delivered Bill (IDB).
- Wear visible Canada Post identification at all times while performing delivery duties.
- Lift and transport packages weighing up to 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds) regularly.
- Operate a motor vehicle safely under varying weather and traffic conditions.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possess a valid permanent provincial driver’s license – Class 5 or equivalent (Class G).
- Maintain a satisfactory safe driving record verified by a driver’s abstract.
- Provide and sustain required automobile liability insurance reflecting the use of the vehicle for employment.
- Notify your insurance provider regarding the use of your vehicle during your employment.
Vehicle Specifications (Mandatory)
- Minimum cargo capacity of 100 cubic feet (2832 liters).
- Equipped with a metal roof-top and accessory power outlet to support Canada Post signage and a flashing light.
- Preferred vehicle features include a fifth door or hatchback to accommodate oversized and bulky mail items.
Additional Information
Permanent Relief RSMCs are guaranteed a minimum of 15 working hours per week with potential for additional hours when available.
