About Corlann – West Region

Corlann – West Region delivers community-centered, person-focused support for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The service is committed to enabling individuals to live meaningful, fulfilling lives integrated within their communities, respecting best practices nationally and internationally. Our approach involves working closely with each individual and their families to foster valued social roles, friendship opportunities, and community connections, guided by person-centered principles.

Role Location and Context

The role is based at Orchard Services, located in Gort, County Galway. This community-based service supports people with intellectual disabilities through center-based residential or day units as well as community outreach, adapting staffing to meet service demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and reliable transportation using mini buses as required by the service
  • Adapt work methods to support individual needs and service priorities
  • Engage and collaborate with community groups to develop positive links and opportunities for service users
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with team leaders, managers, and colleagues

Qualifications and Experience

  • Full clean Driving Licence (Class D1) with completed CPC examinations – mandatory and must be presented at interview
  • Proven experience driving minibuses
  • Prior experience working with people with intellectual disabilities advantageous
  • Experience in routine maintenance tasks is a plus

Additional Requirements

Candidates may be required to complete a minibus driving assessment appointed by Corlann.

Work Schedule and Conditions

  • Contracted for 50 hours per fortnight based on a five-day duty roster
  • Working hours vary between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM to meet service requirements
  • Occasional work on weekends and public holidays may be necessary
  • Service delivery follows Personal Outcome Measures requiring employee flexibility in hours
  • Annual leave entitlement of 22 days pro rata (calculated as 8.46 hours per 100 hours worked)

Compensation and Employment Terms

  • Salary aligned with Department of Health Driver Scale (effective 01/06/2026) ranging from €36,651 to €45,939 pro rata annually across nine increments
  • Permanent part-time contract with pension benefits
  • Probation period of nine months applies, with potential extension at employer discretion
