Role Overview

In the position of People Data Governance & Architecture Lead, you will have a crucial role overseeing trusted people data within One NZ. This fixed-term role lasts 12 months and focuses on steering the people data strategy and architecture to simplify complex data ecosystems and establish a scalable, integrated foundation supporting the future workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a comprehensive People Data Strategy and roadmap, including defining the target data architecture, standards, and evaluating existing data assets and processes.
  • Create and enforce governance frameworks and lifecycle management for people data while implementing quality controls to enhance workforce data accuracy and consistency.
  • Define clear ownership, standards, and controls for all employee and job-related data.
  • Evaluate the organization’s preparedness for AI-powered workforce capabilities through a people data lens and set requirements for structured, reliable, and scalable data.
  • Develop data products for the People function designed to support forthcoming AI capabilities and pinpoint opportunities for automation and advanced analytics.
  • Collaborate across various teams to promote awareness and understanding of people data governance and security measures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of data architecture and working within complex data systems.
  • Proven experience in formulating or deploying data strategy and governance frameworks, especially for privacy-sensitive or regulatory-compliant datasets.
  • Capability to establish data ownership, set quality standards, enforce controls, and manage data accuracy.
  • Strong ability to interface across People, HR, Technology, and business units to unify data, process, and systems.
  • Experience recognizing opportunities for data efficiency, automation, and AI readiness.
  • Analytical expertise with proficiency in data handling, systems, and reporting to elevate insights and uniformity.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to demystify complexity, build consensus, and influence decisions.
