Your Role
As the Portfolio Manager for Strategic Customers, you will serve a crucial leadership role managing One New Zealand's most significant Public Sector customer portfolios. Your role involves coordinating complex projects, programs, and professional services to produce meaningful business and customer outcomes. This position requires strategic leadership, engagement with executive stakeholders, and robust governance to ensure all initiatives align with customer priorities and deliver substantial value.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead performance, governance, and strategic direction of designated Public Sector customer portfolios.
- Develop and maintain trusted advisor relationships with senior customer stakeholders, acting as the primary escalation contact.
- Monitor and ensure successful delivery across programs, projects, managed services, and support activities to meet contract outcomes.
- Collaborate with Sales, Client Partners, and Solution Specialists to maintain a strong delivery pipeline and convert opportunities into profitable engagements.
- Manage portfolio commercial performance, including profitability, cost-to-serve, utilization rates, forecasting, and benefits realization.
- Guide cross-functional virtual teams, fostering a high-performing culture focused on customer success and delivery excellence.
- Promote continuous improvement, capability development, and innovation to enhance customer partnerships and delivery maturity.
Qualifications and Experience
- Over 10 years of experience in program, project, or portfolio management, preferably within enterprise or public sector settings.
- Proven leadership in managing customer-facing delivery teams and handling complex technology, telecommunications, or transformation initiatives.
- Excellent executive stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and maintain long-term partnerships.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing revenue, margins, utilization, forecasting, and service profitability.
- In-depth knowledge of portfolio, program, and project governance, delivery assurance, and customer lifecycle management.
- Collaboration skills to work effectively with Sales, Commercial, and Solution teams for pipeline and service delivery growth.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Technology, or Project Management; certifications such as MSP, PgMP, PMP, or PRINCE2 are advantageous.
