Role Overview

We seek a People & HR Lead to move beyond routine HR tasks and actively shape our organizational culture, people systems, and employee experience, making Laminar a top workplace in Boston. Partnering with our Technical Recruiter, you will ensure smooth onboarding, manage benefits, oversee employee relations, and ensure compliance with evolving employment laws as our team surpasses 50 employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute HR strategies aligned with company mission and values
  • Provide trusted guidance on employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations
  • Manage all types of leaves including FMLA and state-mandated absences ensuring seamless processes
  • Maintain current knowledge and implementation of employment laws across jurisdictions
  • Update and administer employee handbook, HR policies, and procedures for a growing company
  • Evaluate and refine pay bands, organizational structure, and career development pathways
  • Handle contractor contract renewals and benefits administration, including vendor relationships
  • Create and deliver a comprehensive onboarding program
  • Oversee employee offboarding logistics and communications with Operations
  • Support performance management cycles and disciplinary processes alongside managers
  • Collaborate closely with recruiting to ensure smooth transitions from hiring to employment
  • Maintain HRIS systems, manage PTO tracking, and ensure accurate employee data and compliance
  • Develop professional growth opportunities to foster ongoing team skill enhancement
  • Enhance company culture through team events, collaboration, and initiatives

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as HR Generalist or Business Partner supporting scaling teams beyond 50 employees
  • Strong expertise in employment law, leave management (FMLA and state equivalents), and multi-state compliance
  • Proven skills handling employee relations, conflict mediation, and maintaining confidentiality
  • Experience administering employee benefits and managing vendor partnerships
  • Proficiency with HR information systems and excellent organizational capabilities
  • High ethical standards and discretion in sensitive matters
  • Professional HR certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
  • Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced startup environments
