Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated People & Culture Specialist focused on onboarding and offboarding to join our remote team. This role owns and manages the entire employee transition journey, ensuring a seamless and professional experience throughout the employment lifecycle. Working closely with People & Culture leadership and cross-functional teams including IT, Payroll, and Operations, the role supports readiness, transitions, operational consistency, and continuous process improvement across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate onboarding activities from offer acceptance through an employee's first 90 days.
  • Act as the central contact for new hires during onboarding, helping facilitate orientation and a positive entry experience.
  • Manage onboarding schedules, orientation programs, documentation, and first-day arrangements across departments.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development, IT, Operations, Payroll, and leadership to ensure readiness for new employees including system access and equipment setup.
  • Oversee offboarding processes from resignation notice to final separation, handling documentation, system access revocation, and equipment returns.
  • Conduct exit and stay interviews, analyze findings, and support ongoing improvements in onboarding and offboarding.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflows, documentation, and tracking tools for onboarding and offboarding to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Maintain organized records, dashboards, and reports related to employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Identify and suggest enhancements to existing processes to improve efficiency and operational effectiveness.
  • Assist with managing internal employee transitions, organizational changes, and People & Culture initiatives.
  • Create and maintain onboarding training materials and resources.
  • Work closely with People & Culture leadership and other departments for consistent execution of employee transition processes.
  • Apply sound judgment in routine onboarding and offboarding matters and escalate policy, compliance, or employee relations concerns appropriately.
  • Handle sensitive employee information professionally with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by People & Culture leadership to support the department and firm needs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, Humanities, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum four years of experience in onboarding, offboarding, HR coordination, People Operations, or a related discipline.
  • Experience managing onboarding and offboarding processes involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience in legal, professional services, or fast-growing multi-state organizations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe, Zoom, and experience with HRIS or onboarding systems and electronic personnel records.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities.

Additional Information and Benefits

This position is remote-first, requiring employees to have a home workspace with reliable internet and appropriate equipment during standard business hours.

Compensation: Salary range for California and Washington is approximately $36 to $43.27 per hour, variable based on experience, location, and other relevant factors.
