About the Role and Company

Modern Family Law is a boutique law firm specializing in Family Law, committed to fostering an innovative, compassionate, and organized workplace culture. We are seeking a diligent People and Culture Specialist focusing on onboarding and offboarding processes to join our remote team supporting multiple office locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all facets of onboarding from acceptance of offers through the first three months of employment.
  • Act as the principal contact for newly hired employees to ensure a smooth and welcoming orientation and integration.
  • Organize onboarding schedules, orientation sessions, necessary documentation, and first-day logistics across various departments.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development, IT, Operations, Payroll, and leadership teams to guarantee readiness including system access and equipment allocation.
  • Oversee offboarding activities, managing documentation, system access removal, and return of company equipment through to final separation.
  • Conduct and document exit and stay interviews, analyze findings for trends, and drive continuous enhancements to onboarding and offboarding procedures.
  • Develop, update, and maintain standard operating procedures, workflows, process documentation, and tracking tools to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Maintain organized records, dashboards, and reports related to onboarding and offboarding.
  • Identify gaps in processes and propose actionable improvements to boost operational efficiency and consistency.
  • Support internal employee transitions, business changes, and People & Culture initiatives with coordination and documentation efforts.
  • Create, coordinate, and sustain training materials and resources centered on onboarding processes.
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver effective and consistent onboarding/offboarding experiences.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in managing routine and complex onboarding/offboarding issues in conjunction with leadership consultation as needed.
  • Handle sensitive employee information with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by People & Culture Leadership to meet organizational needs.

Candidate Qualifications and Requirements

  • Capability to work remotely with a stable internet connection and suitable home workstation during standard business hours.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; at least 4 years of experience in onboarding, offboarding, employee experience, HR coordination, or related fields.
  • Preferred bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, Humanities, or comparable disciplines.
  • Proven experience managing onboarding/offboarding with multiple stakeholders.
  • Preferred background in legal, professional services, or fast-growing multi-state organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe, Zoom, and experience with HRIS, onboarding platforms, or electronic personnel records.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in high-activity settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with employees, leadership, attorneys, and external partners.
  • Self-motivated and able to independently handle multiple tasks with reliability and follow-through.
  • Ability to identify and recommend process improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities and business demands.
  • Comfortable with prolonged computer use, occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, and working occasional adjusted hours or evenings as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from $36 to $43.27 per hour (based on location and experience). The firm provides a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, HSA/FSA options, disability coverage, dental and vision plans, life insurance, 401(k), paid vacation and sick leave, and access to an employee assistance program. Additional voluntary benefits, such as accident, critical illness, long-term care, and pet insurance are available. Commuter and transit benefits may apply at certain locations.
