About the Role

Modern Family Law is a boutique legal practice focused on Family Law, seeking a dedicated, innovative, and organized People and Culture Specialist to lead its onboarding and offboarding procedures. This fully remote role involves critical coordination across multiple departments to ensure a seamless and professional employee lifecycle experience within our expanding multi-state organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the entire onboarding journey for new hires from accepting an offer through the first 90 days.
  • Acting as the main point of contact to facilitate a smooth and welcoming orientation for new employees.
  • Organizing onboarding schedules, orientations, documentation, and first-day logistics across various teams.
  • Collaborating with Learning & Development, IT, Operations, Payroll, and leadership to guarantee readiness for new hires, including equipment and system access.
  • Overseeing offboarding protocols from notification to separation, managing related documents, revoking system permissions, and coordinating return of equipment.
  • Carrying out exit and stay interviews, monitoring data to detect trends, and contributing to process enhancements.
  • Creating, updating, and refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflows, documentation, and tracking tools for onboarding and offboarding.
  • Maintaining accurate and organized records and reports related to employee transitions.
  • Identifying process inefficiencies and proposing actionable improvements to bolster organizational effectiveness.
  • Supporting internal employee transitions and cultural initiatives with proper documentation and coordination.
  • Developing training resources and materials related to onboarding processes.
  • Collaborating closely with People & Culture leadership and cross-functional teams to implement consistent staff transition practices.
  • Exercising prudent judgment managing routine and complex matters in onboarding and offboarding, including policy interpretation and risk assessment.
  • Upholding confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee data.
  • Perform additional related duties as required to support organizational goals.

Candidate Requirements and Qualifications

  • Reliable home-based work setup with internet connectivity that supports standard business-hour productivity.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent credential.
  • At least four years' experience in onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, People Operations, HR coordination, or comparable roles.
  • Preferably holding a bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, Humanities, or related disciplines.
  • Proven track record managing multi-stakeholder onboarding and offboarding activities.
  • Experience within a legal, professional services, or fast-growing multi-state context is advantageous.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe, Zoom, and familiar with HRIS platforms or digital personnel management systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-up capabilities.
  • Adept at handling multiple tasks, deadlines, and cross-department collaboration in dynamic environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication proficiency.

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or adjust hours for timely onboarding/offboarding needs.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range for this position is approximately between $31 and $38, varying by location and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is offered, including health insurance, options for HSA/FSA, disability coverage, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, 401(k) plan, paid vacation and sick leave, and access to an employee assistance program.
