About Roku

Roku is a leading TV streaming platform that has expanded its reach across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with the goal of helping power televisions worldwide. The company connects viewers with the entertainment they enjoy, supports publishers in growing and monetizing audiences, and offers advertisers effective ways to reach consumers.

Roku describes itself as a fast-scaling public company where every team member contributes meaningfully from day one. The organization values people who move quickly, collaborate well, and help solve problems through action and ownership.

About the Team

The People Shared Services (PSS) team brings together important people operations functions such as talent operations, onboarding, payroll, people programs, employee experience, workplace and facilities, workforce compliance, global security, health and safety, people analytics, and people systems and solutions. The group focuses on efficient service delivery, streamlined processes, global compliance, and scalable, technology-enabled support across the employee lifecycle.

Within Payroll, the team serves as a strategic partner and subject matter expert for India payroll, offering guidance on operations, systems, compliance, governance, and alignment with both global standards and local regulations.

Role Overview

The Payroll Specialist will manage and support complete payroll operations for India and assigned APAC countries. The role requires accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery through TMF and internal systems, along with close coordination with vendors, People Business Partners, People Programs, Finance, and external service providers.

This position is central to daily payroll execution, issue handling, data quality, and ongoing process enhancement across the APAC region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run monthly payroll for India and assist with payroll activities for additional APAC countries in coordination with TMF.
  • Work with TMF to gather payroll inputs, complete validations, obtain approvals, and meet processing timelines for accurate and punctual payroll delivery.
  • Check payroll results such as base salary, variable pay, allowances, statutory deductions, taxes, and benefits to ensure they follow local legal requirements.
  • Keep employee payroll records updated and reviewed in Workday, including compensation updates, tax details, allowances, and statutory deductions.
  • Examine payroll reports, spot differences, investigate mismatches, and resolve issues before payroll is finalized.
  • Handle payroll questions and escalations from employees and stakeholders with timely, clear communication and resolution.
  • Support statutory compliance activities, including filings, remittances, and coordination with TMF on legal or regulatory updates.
  • Work with Finance on reconciliations, accruals, funding needs, and explanations for payroll variances.
  • Assist with audits by preparing records, reconciliations, and responses for internal and external review.
  • Help improve payroll processes, standardize operations, and support automation efforts across India and APAC.
  • Take part in regional payroll initiatives, system upgrades, and vendor improvement projects.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of payroll experience, including direct responsibility for India payroll; APAC regional exposure is strongly preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of India payroll compliance, including income tax, PF, ESI, PT, gratuity, and related obligations.
  • Experience working with third-party payroll providers, with TMF experience strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Workday for payroll inputs, reporting, audits, and data checks.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation abilities, plus close attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage several payroll cycles, deadlines, and stakeholders across multiple countries.
  • Proven discretion in handling sensitive employee information.
  • Preferred exposure to multi-country APAC payroll in a regional or global organization.
  • Preferred familiarity with vendor-managed payroll arrangements and service governance, including SLAs, issue management, and escalations.
  • Preferred advanced Excel capability, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and reconciliation formulas.
  • Preferred experience supporting payroll audits and compliance reviews.
  • Preferred background in a fast-growing, multinational, or matrixed organization.

Work Arrangement

Roku follows a hybrid schedule. Teams work from the office Monday through Thursday, and Fridays are generally flexible for remote work unless a role requires five in-office days or the office follows a five-day on-site policy.

Benefits

Roku offers a broad benefits package designed to support employees and their families. This includes access to mental health and financial wellness resources worldwide, along with local benefits that may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, accident coverage, disability coverage, commuter benefits, and retirement options such as 401(k) or pension plans.

The company also supports time off in line with local leave rules and personal needs. Availability of specific benefits depends on role and location.

Accommodations

Roku welcomes candidates from all backgrounds and provides reasonable accommodations in line with applicable law. Applicants who need support during the hiring process can reach out to EmployeeRelations@Roku.com.

Culture and Additional Information

Roku describes its culture as fast-paced, collaborative, and focused on company success. The company values people who are skilled, easy to work with, practical, and able to keep egos in check. It also values humor, bold thinking, speed, trust, and strong teamwork.

The organization sees itself as problem-solvers who do not stop at ideas; solutions must be built and delivered to customers. Roku says this action-oriented approach has shaped the company since 2002.
