Role overview
A Victorian government organisation in Malvern is looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join its team on a temporary contract through 28 August 2026, with the possibility of an extension. The position offers a pay rate of $42.25 per hour plus superannuation and includes hybrid working arrangements.
Key duties
- Run end-to-end fortnightly payroll for a workforce of up to 1,060 employees, making sure all superannuation, tax, and workers compensation requirements are met.
- Interpret and apply the organisation’s Enterprise Agreement, relevant awards, legislation, and internal policies accurately.
- Offer clear guidance and practical support to resolve complex payroll and employee service questions.
- Provide prompt, professional service to internal teams and external stakeholders while strengthening working relationships.
- Spot opportunities to improve payroll administration and customer service processes, then help put those improvements into practice.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant is a dependable payroll specialist with substantial hands-on experience in high-volume payroll environments. Experience using Aurion or TechnologyOne payroll systems is required, and prior local government exposure would be a strong advantage. Strong customer service ability and well-developed interpersonal skills are also important.
