A large mining-sector organisation with offices in Brisbane’s inner suburbs is hiring a Payroll Officer to join its payroll function on a permanent basis.

The role
Reporting to the Payroll Lead and working collaboratively within the team, this position is responsible for supporting end-to-end payroll activities and maintaining accurate employee pay outcomes.
- Load and assess time and attendance information received from operational sites.
- Process fortnightly payroll accurately and on time, including any off-cycle payments.
- Update and maintain employee records according to instructions and internal requirements.
- Check pay journals and payroll reports to verify correct employee payments.
- Interpret Enterprise Agreements and Award conditions to support payroll compliance.
- Respond promptly to payroll questions raised by HR, managers, and employees.
- Work within existing payroll procedures while also spotting opportunities to improve them.
About you
- You have at least 3 years’ experience in a payroll environment handling medium to high volumes.
- You have worked with a large-scale payroll system.
- You communicate clearly in both writing and speaking.
- You are highly accurate, detail-focused, and comfortable working with numbers.
- You hold full, unrestricted Australian working rights.
