Job description
Job Summary
The Patient Transporter supports patient flow by moving individuals safely across the hospital, including trips to testing areas, treatment units, and discharge points. The role focuses on comfort, safety, privacy, and clear coordination with care teams so patients receive smooth support during transit.
Key Duties
- Move patients safely between departments while preserving dignity and comfort at every step.
- Help patients transfer in and out of wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds using correct lifting methods and equipment to reduce the risk of injury.
- Work closely with nurses, physicians, and other clinical staff to organize and prioritize transport requests.
- Keep transport equipment clean and disinfected in line with infection prevention procedures.
- Observe safety rules for patient handling and movement, and escalate any issue or incident without delay.
- Support the movement of medical devices, supplies, and paperwork when needed to assist patient care.
- Deliver courteous, reassuring service to patients and their families during transport.
- Record transport tasks accurately in logs or electronic systems as required.
- Take on additional tasks when assigned.
- Maintain dependable and consistent attendance.
- Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
Qualifications
