Role Overview
As a Host at REIGN, you will serve as the initial point of contact for guests, reflecting the high standards of Fairmont Royal York. Your role is vital in establishing a welcoming ambiance and ensuring smooth dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrive punctually to uphold standards for colleagues and guests.
- Deliver consistently warm and personalized service.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of menu items, beverage offerings, and current hotel promotions.
- Keep the host area organized and clean at all times.
- Perform daily tasks including greeting guests, seating, handling reservations and phone calls, managing menu changes, picking up newspapers, checking mail, and recording log entries.
- Monitor guest seating and manage dining room cover counts efficiently while understanding union agreements.
- Assist guests in connecting with colleagues through proper use of waiting list procedures.
- Attend all scheduled meetings to promote open communication within the team.
- Participate actively in health and safety protocols to minimize workplace incidents.
- Familiarize yourself with hotel policies, procedures, and departmental standards as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Carry out any additional duties requested by supervisors to support overall outlet operations.
- Contribute ideas and feedback for enhancing restaurant operations and guest experience.
- Promote teamwork and assist coworkers without compromising guest services.
- Complete all assigned tasks before the end of the shift.
- Communicate effectively with servers regarding reservations, changes, large parties, and special requests.
- Offer coat check services to guests as appropriate and manage retrieval upon departure.
- Inform guests about departmental promotions to enhance their experience.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements
- Previous experience in a food and beverage or restaurant environment is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a team-focused setting.
- Capable of multitasking effectively during busy guest interactions.
- Physical duties include continuous standing and walking, lifting up to 30 lbs frequently, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and using stairs or ladders regularly.
