Job description

Role overview

This freelance opportunity is on behalf of a partner organization that oversees the application process and subsequent hiring steps. The role is based in the United States and centers on producing engaging digital content for a major sports-focused social media presence.

You will help shape content planning, live coverage, audience interaction, and storytelling across several social platforms. The position requires quick thinking, strong platform fluency, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving digital setting.

By working with editorial, video, production, and social teams, you will help turn live sports moments into content that is highly shareable and relevant to online audiences. This is a strong fit for someone who is energized by sports, digital culture, and creative content development.

What you will do

  • Handle live social coverage for sports events, especially golf coverage from Thursday through Sunday, including non-standard working hours.
  • Plan, produce, and publish content for Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, Threads, and BlueSky.
  • Follow live games and events closely to spot moments that can be turned into social content.
  • Create clips and short segments from live broadcasts and studio shows for immediate audience use.
  • Work with video, editorial, and production colleagues to build content that performs well across platforms.
  • Protect brand tone, editorial quality, and consistency in every post and asset.
  • Support talent and production teams with content creation during studio and on-location activity.
  • Coordinate with social leadership to find ways to improve reach, engagement, and video performance.
  • Bring fresh ideas to team brainstorms and help shape new content formats and strategies.
  • Review performance data and use it to guide future content decisions.
  • Balance several projects and deadlines while keeping work accurate and detailed.
  • Keep up with platform changes, social trends, and shifts in digital audience behavior.

What the employer is looking for

  • A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Digital Media, or a similar field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1–2 years of experience producing, managing, and distributing content on social media.
  • Practical knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, Threads, and BlueSky.
  • Experience with social media management and coordination tools such as Sprout Social, Airtable, Monday.com, or comparable platforms.
  • The ability to interpret KPIs and use performance insights to strengthen content strategy.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects, plus basic video editing skills.
  • A solid grasp of sports, internet culture, and emerging digital trends.
  • Strong writing and editing ability with careful attention to accuracy and brand consistency.
  • Comfort working under pressure, meeting deadlines, and adapting quickly when priorities change.
  • A creative approach to identifying new storytelling opportunities through digital content.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work well with cross-functional teams.
  • Availability for flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and event-led hours.
  • U.S. work authorization and a minimum age of 18 years.

Preferred background

It is a plus if you have deeper knowledge of sports such as golf, NASCAR, WNBA, and/or Premier League, or if you have used live clipping tools like Wildmoka, WSC, or Grabyo. Experience capturing and editing original video, along with a background in sports media, entertainment, or digital publishing, will also strengthen your candidacy.

Benefits and opportunity

  • Flexible freelance assignment with an estimated project length of up to 6 months.
  • Chance to work on high-visibility sports content and digital media projects.
  • Practical experience in live sports coverage and audience engagement.
  • Collaborative environment with editorial, digital content, and production professionals.
  • Opportunity to build skills in social strategy, video content, and digital storytelling.
  • Exposure to changing social platforms, new trends, and innovative content formats.
