Opportunity Overview
Join a four-year apprenticeship program to earn a Certificate III in Horticulture with a focus on Parks and Gardens. This program offers extensive hands-on learning encompassing all facets of garden and lawn care.
Primary Duties
- Conduct lawn maintenance tasks using ride-on and push mowers.
- Perform edging, planting, hedging, and pruning activities.
- Identify various soils and plant types.
- Manage irrigation systems and assist in establishing new gardens.
- Conduct other related horticultural duties as assigned.
Work Location and Conditions
Work locations vary throughout metropolitan Sydney, including areas such as Inner West, Lower North Shore, Concord, Surry Hills, Ryde, North Shore, and Inner West. The role requires a physically fit individual capable of meeting the demands of manual outdoor labor. The expected working hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with possible overtime.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Hold a valid driver's license and access to personal transportation.
- Possession of a White Card (construction industry induction card) is mandatory.
- Be physically fit for demanding horticultural tasks.
Training and Advancement
The theoretical component of the apprenticeship involves TAFE studies over three years. Successful completion opens pathways to potential advancement to team leader positions.
