About the role
Te Wānanga o Aotearoa is a major tertiary education provider in Aotearoa, built on kaupapa Māori principles and focused on supporting whānau transformation through education that is accessible and values-led. With a nationwide footprint and strong community ties, it plays an important role in uplifting identity, creating opportunity, and shaping outcomes for thousands of ākonga every year.
This newly established director position offers the chance to help shape a role of real significance. As Paemanu Director – Legal, Risk and Compliance, you will help steer how legal, risk, and compliance thinking supports Te Wānanga o Aotearoa’s future direction. Your contribution will be relied upon at senior levels, supporting governance, informing decisions, and embedding a risk approach that is proactive and grounded in kaupapa Māori.

About you
You will bring strong experience in legal, risk, or compliance, together with the confidence and judgement needed to work effectively in an executive and board-facing environment.
