About the Role
Join Home Instead in Nanaimo, British Columbia, as an Overnight Caregiver dedicated to improving seniors' quality of life by delivering compassionate in-home care. We aim to empower caregivers through flexible schedules, career growth opportunities, and meaningful work supporting aging adults to maintain dignity and independence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and compassionate care within clients' homes during overnight hours.
- Assist clients with essential daily living tasks including bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene maintenance.
- Manage medication schedules accurately to ensure client safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals and support clients' dietary needs.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Observe, monitor, and report any changes in client health or behavior to appropriate parties.
- Offer companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities to enhance their well-being.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Must have a clear criminal record including vulnerable sector screening.
- Reliable transportation for commuting to clients’ homes.
- Completion of OFA First Aid Level 1 certification.
- Food safety certification equivalent to FOODSAFE Level 1.
- Demonstrated compassion, reliability, patience, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively within a team.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in caregiving roles.
- Relevant certifications or training in personal support work or related healthcare fields.
- Valid British Columbia driver's license.
