Join Home Instead in Qualicum Beach, BC, as a Personal Support Worker offering either part-time or full-time opportunities. This position is perfect for compassionate individuals eager to support older adults and people with disabilities, chronic health issues, or other care requirements by helping them maintain a safe, comfortable, and independent life at home. No formal caregiving qualifications are needed initially; prior experience through work, volunteerism, or family caregiving is valued.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and continence management.
  • Provide safe mobility aid including transfers, repositioning, and fall prevention.
  • Support medication adherence and monitor client condition changes.
  • Offer dementia and Alzheimer’s care employing patience, reassurance, redirection, and personalized approaches.
  • Plan and prepare meals respecting client dietary preferences and needs.
  • Deliver companionship, emotional support, and meaningful social interaction.
  • Help with household management, including light housekeeping and laundry for a safe living space.
  • Assist with transportation, grocery shopping, errands, and accompany clients to appointments.
  • Maintain clear care documentation and promptly communicate with the supporting office team.
  • Ensure respect for clients’ dignity, independence, privacy, and personal choices in all interactions.

Hiring Requirements

  • Completed and acceptable tuberculosis skin test results.
  • Valid certifications in CPR and First Aid.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • A valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and current automobile insurance.
