Role overview
The Savannah Fruits Company is hiring a full-time Organic Nut Field Officer for its operations team in Sawla-Tuna, Ghana. The role reports to the Operations Manager and sits within a fast-growing business that works with smallholder producers and cooperatives to supply natural raw materials to the cosmetic and food sectors.

The Savannah Fruits Company (SFC) sources, manufactures, and trades natural raw materials from Ghana for use in cosmetics and food products. The company focuses on working with smallholder and small-scale producers organized into cooperatives, so value remains in the communities where the products are produced. Most of its products are certified organic and fair trade, and they are sold to manufacturers and distributors across global markets.
What you will do
- Buy high-quality organic shea nuts from SFC’s certified organic supplier network.
- Oversee the gathering and handling of organic products to make sure the right organic procedures are consistently followed.
- Track shea nut market prices locally and submit weekly updates.
- Inspect nuts during purchasing to confirm product quality meets expectations.
- Train and support SFC groups on organic principles and quality matters related to organic shea nut collection.
- Properly bag, weigh, and label all organic shea nuts.
- Maintain strong working relationships with producer groups and partners.
- Prepare, organize, and file all required documentation accurately.
- Store and move organic shea nuts to processing centers in a way that prevents contamination.
- Submit timely and accurate operational reports as needed.
- Build and sustain relationships with community leaders and women’s groups.
- Identify and train local shea nut suppliers to support quality and long-term supply.
- Monitor and document shea nut collection and purchase activities to maintain traceability.
- Conduct community training on organic collection practices, Fair for Life social and ethical standards, and ISO 22716 good manufacturing practice requirements for shea butter production.
- Provide ongoing technical guidance to help communities follow certification rules.
- Check collection and processing locations regularly for compliance with Organic, Fair for Life, and ISO 22716 standards.
- Prepare supporting reports and records for certification audits.
- Monitor the quality, quantity, and traceability of collected shea nuts and report findings.
- Escalate field-based certification challenges to the Certification Manager and suggest practical solutions.
- Report on training sessions, community engagement, and certification compliance activities.
- Promote the value of certification within communities.
- Support gender equity and the economic empowerment of women in the shea supply chain.
Requirements
- You should have at least 2 years of work experience.
- A bachelor’s degree is required, and NSS must be completed.
Benefits
This is a full-time role based in Yapei, Ghana. Compensation is competitive and will depend on experience. The company also provides a communications allowance, SSNIT and health insurance, and paid leave after a 6-month probation period.
