Role overview
This contract opportunity is with a major financial services institution that operates across several key areas, including institutional and corporate banking, wealth management, private client services, commercial banking, treasury, and retail banking. The hiring team is looking for an Operations Officer III to support an existing vacancy in Toronto.
Contract and schedule
The assignment is for 6 months, with the possibility of being extended or converted to a permanent role. The position is based in Toronto, Ontario, and requires full on-site attendance five days a week. Working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver a wide variety of operational assistance and carry out both standard and more specialized transactions and processing tasks within the Operations and Business Services function.
- Contribute to analysis and reporting for important projects or special initiatives that help improve the operating model, processes, and service quality.
- Complete transactions accurately and within required timeframes, following established procedures and applicable service-level commitments.
- Spot operational or processing issues and escalate or route them appropriately by working with the correct teams or partners to resolve them while protecting service standards.
- Look for ways to improve service delivery and assist partners with incoming transactions, validating information when needed and making permitted adjustments.
- Respond to partner requests promptly and professionally.
- Organize and prioritize personal workload so service and productivity targets are met.
- Stay current on internal and industry regulations, emerging developments, and due diligence requirements, and apply those rules in day-to-day work.
- Handle correspondence, sensitive information, and confidential matters carefully, escalating concerns when necessary.
- Support the timely and accurate completion of business processes.
- Review existing activities and suggest practical process improvements.
- Investigate unusual or higher-risk activity and escalate it appropriately.
- Follow enterprise operations frameworks and methodologies, including areas such as Anti-Money Laundering and Business Continuity Management.
- Comply with the Bank Code of Conduct.
Requirements
- A university degree in business or a related discipline is required.
- At least 4 years of experience in banking or the financial services industry.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Comfort working with multiple systems and switching between software applications.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and formulas.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong prioritization and time-management abilities.
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC) designation.
- Ability to work under strict deadlines and manage high volumes of work.
- Excellent numerical and analytical capability.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Self-driven, motivated, and goal-focused.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing policies and procedures.
- Understanding of money market and foreign exchange products such as options, spot FX, forwards, and money market deposits and loans.
- Exposure to Global and WSS platforms would be considered an advantage.
