Role Responsibilities
- Perform property damage assessments on-site, virtually, or through desktop evaluations, either directly with customers or alongside approved repairers.
- Evaluate and make decisions on the scope of repairs, accepting or rejecting work to ensure repairs are cost-effective and meet quality standards.
- Provide customers with timely, clear, and accurate information about claim decisions, procedures, timelines, and progress updates.
- Assist Claims Managers in resolving complex issues and supporting vulnerable clients throughout the claims process.
- Document detailed assessment reports, including evidence and decision rationale, regarding property loss or damage.
- Focus on controlling costs, ensuring repair quality, and driving continuous improvements within claims services.
- Identify risks proactively, escalate suspected fraud, and maintain compliance with internal policies and legislative requirements.
- Offer constructive feedback on repairer performance and recommend process enhancements aimed at improving customer satisfaction.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is confident in making independent decisions, combining technical knowledge with a strong commitment to customer service. They should be well-organized, resilient, and comfortable operating autonomously in a dynamic environment.
Required Qualifications
- Trade qualifications or formal education in building or related trades.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate IV in General Insurance or an equivalent qualification.
- Diploma in Loss Adjusting.
- Qualification in the building industry as a trade professional.
- Experience in assessing, supervising, or construction roles.
- Capability to manage claims across Queensland with willingness to travel frequently.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively manage expectations and provide support both face-to-face and over the phone.
- Considerable experience within insurance or property claims sectors.
- Proficient writing skills for producing comprehensive assessment documentation.
