Overview
Alsco Uniforms is hiring an organized and detail-focused Office Clerk to support accounts payable work and day-to-day office administration at its Nanaimo branch. Reporting to the Office Manager, this position is central to keeping financial processing accurate, office records orderly, and service standards high for both internal teams and external contacts.
This opportunity suits someone who enjoys a mix of clerical, bookkeeping-related, and administrative work, and who wants exposure to multiple office functions while helping the branch run efficiently.
Accounts Payable and Financial Assistance
- Enter vendor invoices correctly and ensure they are handled promptly.
- Support reconciliations, daily deposits, and accrual tracking.
- Keep supplier records up to date and assist with branch filing administration.
- Prepare and check daily revenue figures, and help assemble bank statements, reports, and supporting documents.
- Provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks as needed.
Office Administration
- Complete accurate data entry and maintain both electronic and paper records in an orderly way.
- Prepare, print, and arrange daily route and billing paperwork.
- Organize filing systems and carry out routine administrative duties.
- Offer customer support in person and over the phone.
- Help maintain a clean and functional office environment.
Technology and Reporting
- Create and update spreadsheets and reports using Microsoft Excel.
- Use Microsoft Word and other office applications for communication and documentation.
What We Are Looking For
- At least 2 years of administrative experience, ideally with a strong emphasis on accounts payable.
- Good computer proficiency and the ability to pick up new systems quickly.
- Experience with data entry and use of an adding machine.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
- Ability to follow directions, manage priorities, and work carefully with a high level of accuracy.
Work Environment
The role is based in an office located inside an industrial laundry facility. Although the work is primarily office-based, there may be occasional exposure to temperature changes, odors, humidity, lint, or dust when entering plant areas. The job also involves regular sitting, standing, walking, speaking, and hearing in an office setting.
Some occasional lifting of boxes up to 25 lbs is required, along with filing, reaching, stooping, and other fine motor tasks.
