Position Overview
We are currently looking to hire a full-time Occupational Health Services Technologist to provide specialized health services to members of the Canadian Armed Forces in an outpatient clinic located at the Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake, Alberta. This role will appeal to those interested in military healthcare, operational trauma, and occupational health. You will play a vital role in improving the health and wellbeing of military personnel who serve our nation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct workplace walkthroughs to assess occupational health at Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces facilities.
- Perform occupational health surveillance and compliance inspections including environment sampling such as air and soil.
- Analyze and interpret data collected from samples and inspections.
- Communicate effectively with accredited analytical labs, regulatory agencies, and governmental bodies.
- Recommend administrative and engineering control measures ensuring compliance with the Canada Labour Code regarding workplace health and safety.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certification in occupational health and safety, evidenced by one of the following credentials: OHST (Board of Certified Safety Professionals, USA), ROH or ROHT (Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists), or CIH (American Board of Industrial Hygiene or Canadian Council for Accreditation of Occupational Hygienists).
- A valid provincial driver's license; readiness to use a personal vehicle may be necessary despite DND vehicle access.
- At least two years of professional experience delivering occupational health and safety services as a technologist within environmental health programs.
- Experience applying relevant federal and provincial environmental and occupational health legislation.
- Skilled in conducting environmental and occupational safety investigations as well as preparing detailed technical reports.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level.
