Job description
Position Overview
The Occupational Health and Safety Officer role entails managing and enforcing the Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (OSHE) standards, policies, and procedures to ensure full adherence to relevant national legal requirements. The position serves multiple campuses including Ogongo, José Eduardo dos Santos, Hifikepunye Pohamba, Oshakati, Rundu, and Katima Mulilo.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor OSHE policies and guidelines effectively across various campuses.
- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) to identify potential workplace hazards and mitigate risks.
- Foster a culture emphasizing high standards of occupational safety, hygiene, and health among all staff and students.
- Work proactively to protect the environment from any adverse effects related to university operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a diploma or degree in Environmental Health or Occupational Health and Safety.
- Minimum of three years professional experience in environmental health, occupational health, or environmental management roles.
- Additional eligibility criteria may be applied by the recruitment committee during shortlisting and selection processes.
