Job summary

This airline medical department role is focused on supporting regulatory health checks, clinical assistance, and administrative compliance work. The nurse helps safeguard the well-being of staff and passengers while ensuring that medical processes meet Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) requirements.

Core responsibilities

The position combines mandatory aviation medical duties, frontline clinical support, and day-to-day administrative coordination.

• Carry out breath alcohol screening for cockpit crew, cabin crew, and ground staff in line with DGCA Civil Aviation Requirements.
• Support random testing for psychoactive substances for cockpit crew, cabin crew, and ground personnel, ensuring all steps remain compliant with DGCA rules.
• See outpatients, complete initial clinical assessments, and act on the doctor’s instructions.
• Deliver first aid and respond to medical emergencies involving both employees and passengers.
• Manage MEDIF passenger enquiries, collect the required medical details, and brief the doctor on duty.
• Help prepare first aid kits, medical kits, universal precaution kits, and AED units.
• Coordinate calibration of alcohol testing devices and keep track of their movement.
• Retrieve CCTV footage when needed.
• Maintain medical files and DGCA-required records accurately and in line with compliance standards.
• Track departmental medical supplies and inventory.
• Handle routine administrative tasks in the medical department.
• Carry out any additional work assigned by the Head of Medical Services.

Schedule and working conditions

• Each shift lasts 8.5 hours.
• Work is organised across morning, afternoon, and night shifts.
• The role requires readiness for rotational and night shift duty.
• Applicants should be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment and responding effectively to urgent situations.

Qualifications and requirements

• GNM Diploma or BSc in Nursing is required.
• The candidate must hold a valid and active registration with the Nursing Council of India.
• Prior exposure of 1 to 2 years in clinical care or aviation medical services is preferred.
• Strong ability in clinical assessment and first aid is needed.
• Knowledge of DGCA regulations and medical documentation is important.
• Competence with medical equipment and inventory control is expected.
• Good spoken and written communication, along with strong organisational skills, is required.
• The role demands strict confidentiality and adherence to regulatory standards.
