  • Work through alternative income and documentation structures such as asset depletion, bank statement, ITIN, 1099, and P&L-based loans.
  • Review borrower credit, income, assets, and collateral to judge eligibility and risk.
  • Confirm that loans align with investor, company, and regulatory requirements, including ATR/QM, TRID, RESPA, TILA, HMDA, and HOEPA.
  • Carry out manual underwriting and recommend waivers or exceptions where appropriate.
  • Issue clear, compliant decisions and review revised submissions quickly.
  • Handle audit queries and post-closing requests for additional documents.
  • Coordinate with account executives, brokers, processors, and internal teams to keep files moving accurately and on time.
  • Stay updated on Non-QM products, investor rules, and secondary market changes.
  • Support process improvements aimed at better efficiency, service quality, and loan performance.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of current experience underwriting Non-QM mortgage loans, especially DSCR files.
  • Strong understanding of Non-QM programs and alternative documentation requirements.
  • Ability to analyze complex income structures and calculate DSCR.
  • Good knowledge of secondary market expectations and investor guidelines.
  • Experience using automated underwriting systems such as DU and LP, along with electronic document management tools.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage several priorities in a busy environment.
  • Willingness to work full-time from the office in Kochi, Kerala.
  • Night shift availability.
