About Industrial Arts Workshop

Industrial Arts Workshop (IAW), based in Pittsburgh, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering both youth and adults through engaging programs that blend arts, community development, and workforce preparation. Participants gain hands-on experience in sculpture design and welding, developing practical skills and confidence applicable across various career paths including welding, other skilled trades, arts, and multiple professional sectors. The environment fosters resilience, creativity, and real-world readiness to ensure a strong foundation for participants' futures.

Role Overview

The Network Specialist will work remotely full-time, managing and enhancing IAW’s network infrastructure to guarantee consistent, secure connectivity supporting staff and program activities. Daily duties include configuring network equipment, overseeing user access, and conducting routine tasks such as updating, backing up data, and optimizing performance. The specialist will troubleshoot network problems, liaise with external vendors and service providers, and maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations and procedures. Additionally, this role involves implementing and sustaining network security measures, collaborating with internal teams to assess their technology needs, and contributing to network planning and design improvements in alignment with organizational growth and mission.

Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in network design and configuration to build secure, efficient network environments.
  • Competence in network administration, including device management, user access control, and routine maintenance.
  • Strong skills in network security, implementing controls, threat monitoring, and compliance with best practices.
  • Effective troubleshooting abilities to identify, analyze, and resolve connectivity and performance issues.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA, or equivalent practical experience in network operations.
  • Experience supporting remote and hybrid work settings, including VPN and secure access management.
  • Excellent documentation practices, communication, and collaboration skills, coupled with the capacity to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or educational organizations and an enthusiasm for IAW’s mission centered on arts and workforce development is advantageous.
