About the Role

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions offers an engaging opportunity for a Legal & Compliance Support Specialist to join their team remotely. This full-time role operates with a standard schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, offering flexibility when necessary. The position provides vital administrative, operational, and paralegal assistance within the Legal and Compliance Department.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize legal, compliance, and regulatory files, both physical and digital, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA and data security protocols.
  • Manage and enhance the document management and retention program, including the Laserfiche system aligned with healthcare retention policies.
  • Coordinate the legal department’s calendar by scheduling meetings, prioritizing tasks, and monitoring essential deadlines related to regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Deliver administrative and secretarial tasks such as drafting correspondence, compiling compliance reports, and preparing presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct healthcare-related legal and regulatory research, focusing on CMS guidelines, Medicare/Medicaid billing rules, payer policies, and state-specific healthcare statutes.
  • Track and summarize updates in federal and state healthcare regulations including HIPAA, HITECH, the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and billing requirements.
  • Contribute to the creation, implementation, and maintenance of compliance programs targeting revenue cycle management activities like billing, coding, collections, and reimbursements.
  • Assist in internal compliance audits, documenting findings, and supporting corrective measures.
  • Liaise with outside counsel on healthcare regulatory issues, audits, investigations, and litigation by managing case materials and tracking litigation status.
  • Support litigation and claims handling involving employment disputes, billing conflicts, payer audits, recoupments, and government inquiries.
  • Help draft, review, and format contracts including business associate agreements, vendor contracts, and payer agreements linked to revenue cycle management.
  • Maintain comprehensive logs and tracking systems for legal, compliance, audit, regulatory filings, and contract activities.
  • Support HIPAA compliance efforts through documentation management, training coordination, and incident monitoring.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, billing, and compliance teams to ensure regulatory and internal policy alignment.
  • Prepare materials for compliance committees, board reports, and updates for senior leadership.
  • Undertake special projects and duties as assigned to support evolving legal and regulatory requirements within the healthcare revenue cycle management sector.
  • Perform confidential administrative functions and manage receipt of service of process documents distributing them appropriately within the organization.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Experience of 3 to 5 years in legal administration or paralegal roles.
  • Preferably has 3 to 5 years supporting multiple executives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively represent and liaise with both internal departments and external contacts.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive organizational information.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet important deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently without direct supervision.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
