Job description

Job overview

The NDT Technician is responsible for resolving non-destructive testing (NDT) issues independently, using established procedures and accepted scientific methods without requiring supervisory approval.

Key responsibilities

  • Inspect welds and materials using radiography (RT), ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and dye penetrant testing (PT) in line with code requirements and contractual specifications.
  • Identify whether any defects or flaws are acceptable or unacceptable and communicate findings clearly and accurately.
  • Carry out NDT checks on welds and materials using the relevant approved method, following the project NDT plan, NDT procedures, applicable codes, and contract requirements.
  • Perform examinations strictly according to approved procedures and internationally recognized standards and codes.
  • Assess results against acceptance criteria to determine whether items pass or fail.
  • Coordinate with the assigned QC inspector to confirm when corrective work has been completed.
  • Report non-conforming work for rectification, and support re-inspection after repairs have been completed and verified by the QC inspector.

Qualifications and experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of engineering degree study or a high school diploma.
  • At least 3 years of experience in radiography or ultrasonic testing.
  • Valid ASNT or CSWIP certification.
  • Occupational qualification under an internationally recognized scheme such as PCN, CSWIP, ASNT, or an equivalent system to demonstrate competence.
  • Ability to evaluate inspection results accurately, make sound judgments on weld acceptance, and prepare reports in line with relevant code and specification criteria.
